Victoria

2001 Lipizzan Mare

Evaluated at 91.5%

Top Lipizzan Mare in North America

Victoria was born June 9, 2001. Her sire is Maestoso Platana 21, a former performance Stallion at the Spanish Riding School. And her dam is Aurorra. She was evaluated the summer of 2005 with a score of 91.5 by Dr. Jaromir Oulehla, former Director of the Spanish Riding school. She recieved perfect 10s for head and neck, frame/topline, trot, impulsion and elasticity. Victoria is currently the highest rated Lipizzan mare in North America. With her magnificent gaits and baroque appearance she is a striking mare.

After the untimely death of Tony Michelletti in December of 2006 Connie Michelletti decided to sell her breeding stock. I decided I had to take a look at the broodmares. I knew it would be hard to ever find mares of this quality again. I had read about Victoria (then called Millenia) and fell in love with her immediately after meeting her. Stately and stand-offish she won my heart with her regal bearing. Victoria had lived in a large pasture with a shelter for most of her life. Connie told me that the first mare she was put out with was sold and then the next mare who joined her didn't like her.

It took quite a while to load Victoria into my trailer. At home I found that big and robust as Victoria is on the outside, inside she is a shy little girl. In her stall she would often turn her rump to us - but she never lifted a leg or threatened to kick. She was almost childlike in thinking that if she just turned her rump to the world she would be safe from all the scarey things it presented..

She came to us on January 25, of this year. However, to our surprise, It took only a few weeks of leading and brushing her before she began to bond to us. Victoria responded quickly to gentle handling and lots of praise.I had intended to put her in training with the Hallets as she is nearly six years old but quickly changed my mind. Victoria just needed to relax and get used to us and her new home with our four other mares. She is still a little shy and tentative but once on a leadline she gains confidence from the handlers she knows and trusts, Walter and I. I think she is going to be a mare who bonds deeply but only to people she knows very well. Now she loves to be brushed and fussed over and she is happy in her simple little lead line lessons where she gets lots of praise for her efforts. Her nature is sweet and affectionate, and very gentle.

Victoria has been bred to Cele & Tony Noble's beautiful ten year old stallion Favory II Candita. (evaluation score 88%) With parents like these this should be a very special foal. This foal will be for sale in 2008. After weaning, Victoria will go into training with the Hallets as I like all my broodmares to have a good foundation under saddle. She will of course continue her career as one of our top broodmares..
